You are vegetarian?

An ex-colleague asked if I turned vegetarian after reading my recent spat of vegetarian meals on Twitter.

I told him I turned vegetarian recently and he asked me why - because of religion, health or?

Well, twitter can only type 140 words.

So I'm going to elaborate here, why I turned vegetarian (Oh no, the same old story AGAIN).

1. For Health

I tried ( Read more... )

stop animal cruelty, vegan, vegetarian

The generic makeup of animals and vegetables are different. Unlike animals, vegetables do not go through the fear when they are about to be killed. Have you seen a vegetable struggling when its plucked from the ground?

A fish, even though it makes no sound, it still struggles for its life when its caught and about to die.

And what's your point again? :)

Hey babe, my vegetarian friend shared this link with me: http://www.vegetarian.sg/vegetarian_restaurants.html

You might like to check it out. But not all of them are vegan though. Just vegetarian.

There's one called Naive along Katong Road too. :)

I like what you're doing, but I know I don't have the determination to do it. :P

Thanks babe! I've bookmarked it down ;) you can get your friend to visit http://www.happycow.net/asia/singapore/ too. They have quite a good list of vegan/vegetarian restaurants.

Try watching the videos I've posted up. That was what gave me the motivation to turn veg :)

I agree with you totally! that's why i'm against eating farm animals. I can't bring myself to watch earthlings though, because it would leave me VERY VERY depressed.
ps: be sure to ensure that you have proper vitamin intake! especially vitamin B12 :)

Hi Magdelene :)

Thanks for dropping by :)

I couldn't bear to watch the full video. There are parts where I had to turn my head away and just listen to the narration, and that already very depressing :(

I bought vit B12 and flaxseed oil (cos' I'm not eating fish too) supplements. I realise the amount of B12 in the usual veg diet is not sufficient enough.

oh just wanted to add, after seeing your earlier post-

brown rice paradise in tanglin mall sells vegan friendly stuff! soaps and shampoos, cookies, bars etc :) But the prices are not in the supermarket range though.
some cold storage stores do sell vegan ice creams eg 'soy dream' in the freezer section. And vegan cheese-tofutti (DO NOT BUY IT. it is vile)

Also, there's this organic store in Great World City that sells vegan alternatives too. The last time I went, they had tubs of coconut milk ice cream. With flavours like cherry armanetto, mint chocolate etc. (oh, I regret not buying any!)

Brown Rice paradise also sells delicious Almond Milk, soy milk and other milk alternatives. I think almond milk (esp Almond Breeze Chocolate flavour!) is really good. Rice milk is kinda bleah and like sugared water.

Thanks for the tips! Will go check them out when I've got the time. So far I've been to NTUC, there's very limited choices. Tried looking for Almond milk (its my fav!) and they don't have. I bought organic Soybean milk in the end.

Can't wait to check out Brown Rice Paradise. :D

Is the organic shop at GWC called Four Seasons Market?
