I wish summer didn't smell of bushfires

There is a distinct smell of smoke in the air tonight. I'm pretty sure it's from the fires on the Sunshine coast, since we've got a north wind blowing, but it's disturbingly strong, for such a distance. I'd like it to go away now, please. No matter where we've travelled to, every local we've met has drawled 'the weather's wierd' and we have to agree with them. Drove through a 100km wide dust storm as we headed into Broken Hill. The locals there reckon they only used to happen every other year. Only a month later one escaped further east and smothered Sydney.

Lake Eyre, although beautiful to behold, was full of water to a capacity that has only happened 5 times in recorded history. Spring in Alice Springs had 2 days of rain and 14 degree max. They were scratching their heads. Darwin's build up for the wet was 2 months early and we had thunderstorms whilst we were there. Humidity central. Perth had had rain for 19 out of 22 days straight when we arrived! It's now getting humid which it never does normally here.

Hope you're safe and you get lots of rain and no wind.

Crazy! Coffs Harbour and further north flooded last week. I realise there's a good 4 hr drive between you, but rain isn't picky about borders or distance. I hope peeps are safe.
