I don't really like Tory all that much. In fairness, that dislike stemmed from jealousy that she got to hang out with Laura. *sigh* but then she actually gave me a reason to honestly dislike her!

lol.

But this was beautiful. She really did try so hard for Laura. She was always there, always giving, protecting, going above and beyond. And in the end, Laura's inability to respect Tory's right to a life of her own broke their relationship. I mean, really, Tory should have been the bigger person, but I can see how she might just be too emotionally exhausted. Plus, she thinks she's a final Cylon and is all full of special now.

I really liked this. I loved how it ends. So true.

I know a lot of people don't like Tory. I have mixed feelings about her myself, and I definitely share your jealousy that she gets to hang with the totally hot prez. But I've always felt kinda bad for her that Laura never seemed to love her as much as Billy or Lee or Kara, when Tory has always busted her butt for her. Even though, as you say, Tory is annoyingly thinking she is all full of special now (lol!), I still couldn't blame her for snarking on Laura in Revelations. Seemed only fair.

Tory has always been sort of an intriguing character for me, so I've always wondered about her true intents and feelings. In a way, Billy's death, I believe, made Laura wary of gaining any sort of personal attachment to Tory. The first scene where it becomes apparent Tory is the "new girl" is sort of very telling since Laura is sitting there staring at the picture (and I actually sort of squee over her attachment to Billy, because well... he's Billy, and he's cute).

I've always wondered though because Tory, even after her Cylon-discovery, always seemed to be loyal to and respect Laura, even when she found herself on the short end of the stick. And Laura pretty much, in an understandable but unfair way, held her grudge against Baltar against Tory as well. I think the aha! moment for Tory's "turn" was the deleted scene... which I'm not sure if you've seen?

I love to be spammed! lol! Glad you enjoyed this story. I liked Tory until she went a little nuts after finding out she was a cylon. I've always found her relationship with Laura interesting. Wish they would have mined that possibility a bit more.

And I started the show in late season 3, so I mainlined most of the show too. Definitely changes your perspective I think.

Seriously loved it. Such great insight.

Tory took her communal sip in salute. The taste was bitter tinged. She’d offered an election that was refused. She’d found a hideaway for a beloved child but then lost her. Her offerings always somehow turned to dust.

This part was all sorts of brilliant. Thank you for writing this.

Thanks!! You probably haven't read this because I never posted it to any A/R sites for obvious reasons. I think very few people ever have read this, actually, so I really appreciate the feedback. This was also one of the earliest ficlets I ever wrote. Glad you enjoyed it. I have a soft spot for Tory pre-cylonicity I have to admit. I wish we could have seen more of her relationship with Laura.

Oh me too. I always felt there was too little interaction shown between those two. Tory busted ass (pre-cylonicity of course) for Laura. And the two would have undoubtedly have had some sort of friendship. (Which is a given really when you think back on the conversation between the two when Laura found out about Tory and Baltar)

Anyway, it's nice to find fics like this. A real hidden gem this one.
