Fic: Around the Corner

She chuckled slightly at the sour expression on his face and threw an apologetic hand in the air.  "Your words, not mine, remember?  But you were right.  We've both been guilty of losing sight of that, but not anymore.  This fleet comes first.  Before me.  Before you.  And before Kara.”

“Yes, the fleet comes first,” he agreed, though he wasn’t ( Read more... )

I hate it.

It's horrible.

*shoves you in line of fire*

Oh, wait ...

Nevermind. All's good.

LOL! So far so good. Nobody's tried to cut me down yet. Maybe they are all still crying.

Lovely. A very bittersweet look at what might have happened afterwards, but I think one of the more realistic takes.

"Yes, you did, Bill. And it was cruel. But it was also true, and sometimes truths are cruel."

Love this line.

Thanks so much for sharing :)

Thanks! Sorry for the bittersweet, but I'm glad you find it realistic. It had been bothering me how they could have been so close and yet still so far apart through the balance of 4.0 without having some sort of explanation like this.

Wow. I am speechless & heartbroken. Brilliant. You certainly have command of the written word, story telling & our beloved characters.

While very different from my own 'deleted scene' from "Six of One," your interpretation is a very plausible possibility.

And a very powerful final line.

You ripped my heart out.

Bravo.

Thank you!

I hate to break hearts or for that matter rip them out, but I'm really pleased that you find this interpretation plausible. I'm not sure if I believe this is the most plausible interpretation for their relationship going forward from Six of One to The Hub, but I find it works for me on several levels, even though it is sad. I'm glad it is touching people powerfully.

Adored the last line, and how this fic fits so perfectly with the tone of the show and series canon. It could be a deleted scene (and it's a needed one!). It's tough to read Laura using the responsibilities line, and I wonder if there is more than this reason in her mind when she makes the choice to step back.

Love spackle fics, and especially ones that make me think. Great stuff!

ps. I'm addicted to my Tigh icon.

Your Tigh icon rocks, lol! And I think Bill could have used another drink at the end of this fic, poor guy, given what I put him through ( ... )
