Oh! Someone linked me to "His Face All Red" awhile back, I loved that comic. I haven't been back to her site in awhile...and now I get to read the rest of her stuff. Just in time for Halloween, I suppose.
I love the Slenderman. It's one of the Urban Legend copypastas from /x that is genuinely creepy.
And as a fan of The Shining, The Ring, Silent Hill and Amnesia, creepy is one of my favorite adjectives. :)
They need to fix the initial execution of the concept, but Minecraft has recently added Endermen, clearly inspired by this legend. Slender, vaguely human shapes, who appear in the distance - but if you look directly at them, they teleport behind you and kill you. Good stuff.
You have officially creeped me the fuck out. I really liked the way you talked about the various fears through the decades and I like where you then developed that into the now and how that relates to Slenderman. That's what creeped me out most.
The Fox News joke was priceless.
Meanwhile, the time period fear thing made me think about our ghost walk again. And the book I'm reading now about 17th century Britain had a section on ghost stories there. I think you would've liked them. It reminded me of our ghost walk, too.

I think you'd enjoy her if you haven't read her webcomics. The darker ones definitely reminded me of this.
