In the market for a new laptop...

...and I was wondering what other people suggest.

Here are basically the requirements that I'm looking for:

Not Apple
Small: 12-14" wide. I don't care much about weight or thickness, but those are likely to be low too for a 12-14" laptop.
Optional secondary battery in optical drive bay. This is something I really want. Why should I have some sort ( Read more... )

I didn't bother reading the top of this post and assumed, without any supporting context, that the bullets represented qualities you were searching for in a potential girlfriend.

I must say, those are also requirements I wouldn't mind having in a girlfriend.

Haha, you were certainly reading everybody's mind by saying "Not Apple" as the very first thing.

One of our ACM members just came in with a new black Apple Intel notebook, and oh god is it sexy.

I'm curious: is your opposition to it being an Apple based on ideology, or just dissatisfaction with the product/price?

hey just bumping into yr LJ off UMass. might want to have a look at Fujitsu lifebooks... really small and portable, and I know the one I have can have a 2nd battery in the opt bay drive. www.fujitsu.com

Heh, that's what I've kinda been thinking of...whenever I look for laptops that meet those specs they're one of the only things that come up.

Now if only I could find one that doesn't come with Windows...
