That sucks. Have you tried Budget? They do one-way rentals. They appear to be sold out until Monday but it might be worth a call. I've used them a few times and they weren't so bad.

budget must have crappy advertising or something. i never even thought to check them. i only thought of u-haul and ryder.

budget wants $808 for a 10 foot truck. like the u-haul this is without a ramp. the smallest truck they have with a ramp is a 16 footer (u-haul has a 14). we could move most of my parents' house to rensselaer if we had a truck that huge. it would suck to drive it for 600 miles and pay for all that gas. on the plus side the budget truck has unlimited mileage and would rent monday to friday, a way better deal than u-hauls 648 miles back on thursday. thanks for reminding me of budget. i don't think we are going to be renting anything for next week because it is all just too expensive. but if we did it would more likely be budget than those evil, price changing, u-haul people.

I loathe U-Hell. I begged Deanna not to use them when she moved. I know too many of the behind-the-scenes badness in that company. Even if you had been able to get the $600 truck, there's a very good chance you wouldn't have made it home.

I have lots of price-gouging, unsafe equipment and general corporate assholishness stories I could tell about U-Hell. I've very happy I don't work for them anymore.
