So the ship was attacked by pirates, we did everything we could do keep them at bay, some people were injured or died. And now we're letting their first mate stay on the ship? Who'd killed a few of us herself??

Am I the only one who thinks this is a bad idea? What's wrong - is everyone tired too tired to protest...?

I'm not saying we should throw ourselves against the bars... but trying to talk to the jailer or search for a way out shouldn't be out of the question either.

That's what you said, but I find it a little hard to believe that any captain with an iota of sense would keep the first mate of an enemy ship as anything other than a prisoner.

Either this place really is mad, or whoever put the story together is slipping.
