So the ship was attacked by pirates, we did everything we could do keep them at bay, some people were injured or died. And now we're letting their first mate stay on the ship? Who'd killed a few of us herself??

Am I the only one who thinks this is a bad idea? What's wrong - is everyone tired too tired to protest...?

I guess I got dragged here at a strange time. Or whoever it is running all of you is very clever.

I'm glad I seem to have missed these supposed pirates, though.

You haven't missed them exactly. There's one still on the ship.

That's what you said, but I find it a little hard to believe that any captain with an iota of sense would keep the first mate of an enemy ship as anything other than a prisoner.

Either this place really is mad, or whoever put the story together is slipping.

Or there's much more to what's going on here than we're being told.

Or much less. There's the possibility that all of this--assuming it's genuine--is much shallower than I've found everyone seems to believe. Who's to say this wonderful captain of yours didn't let the enemy stay aboard because he thinks she would be more useful put to work rather than put to death?

It's not the brightest move, but I guess it's not unheard of, either. Community service, slave labor, indentured servitude, whatever. It's been done. It's dangerous to allow to murderers, but some people just don't think with their heads.

Or perhaps he just thinks she's attractive. Is she?
