I should have expect the other shoe

Yesterday went too well. I should have known something was wrong. I woke up this morning and go to my laptop to check my e-mail only to find out that the hard drive is now failing. I've lost everything on had on there and that was my primary computer as I had gotten into using the tower for gaming. Then my aunt came over and we ended up finding ( Read more... )

First...

Don, your choice of video last night ROCKED. I'm glad I was part of the good part of your day.

Second...

You didn't see it coming (the hard drive) and it's seeming to be a lot more frequent a problem with laptops, from what I hear. A lot of the doctors here are bringing in their Dells to get the drives replaced because of problems.

Is it still under warranty, and *might* there (crossing fingers) be a recall on the hard drives? Investigate into it, and maybe some good fortune may fall your way from it.

I hope the drainage is nothing. Might be because you were a little more active than at home, usually?

TRY to keep a positive attitude on today, and just remember the good time you had last night. I remember I did.+

*hugs*

:)

I'm glad you enjoyed the show. I thought you guys might enjoy it. And the laptop is over 2 years old so I think the warranty is over but that doesn't change the fact that I'd still lose the info on the hard drive. I'm having my co-worker Mike make a copy of this CD that I'm going to try to use to see if I can still access anything on the hard drive if I boot from elsewhere. Guess I'll have to save to buy a new one. No extra spending for me for a LONG time. :(

Are hard drives for laptops that much more expensive?

I'm not sure how to replace it or how much they cost or how proprietary they are. It's not like with towers where I could just easily swap parts. Plus, I'm not 100% sure it's the HDD itselve that's causing the failure. Just hoping if I can get the ultimate CD thing that Mike uses that I'll be able to salvage some stuff.

You've been hanging out with friends, joining in on the bear events out there...you have a lot going for you. Stop letting these little setbacks topple over everything else that's good in your life ( ... )

Thanks. Sometimes things just overwelm me. Today, I upped the dossage on my Welbutrin just to help make it through this weekend because I could feel things getting to me already. The doc said it was ok if I needed to do it occasionally as long as I don't exceed what I took today.
