title: choose your own adventure author: hyacinthian rating: pg-13 summary: there are three ways the story can end. all roads, after all, do lead to the truth, don't they? emma/august.
Oh, that was gorgeous! I love how Emma likes apple pies because she is her mother's daughter, and August's voice is just perfect and a little bit biting, in all the right places. Wonderful work.
Oh, I LOVE this! I'm never sure if I actually ship them or not, but after reading this, I'm definitely leaning towards yes. I love how they are both like...rough (IDK if it's that's the right word or not but it's all that is coming to mind) and how Emma's not exactly open, but that they totally work well together.
Mary Margaret catching them kissing and Emma being a bad liar and asking August if he's afraid of her parents is my faveee part, but I really love all of it.
Oh, and this part is SO great too:
It’s the anti-staying-ness of it that gets to him. They’re both runners, so what the fuck is going on here? If you think this scenario is bullshit and that they would run, turn to page 97. If you think running is narrative laziness, turn to page 97. The thing you learn, coming from a war of the worlds: everything ends up leading to the same outcome, sooner or later; it’s only a question of timing.
(BTW, this is Molly/deepbutdazzlingdarkness from tumblr.)
Tbh, I'm one of those people who ships on chemistry and they had so much and then they revealed who he was and it was basically a lot of symbolic feelings (god and keeper of the faith, warrior and writer! you can't do these things to me, show!) and this all just cropped up. TOO MANY FEELINGS.
Just browsing around for some August/Emma fics when I found this and I had to comment--loved it! When I watched the first season of OUAT, I left with the feeling of 'Come on, who can ship ANYTHING else on this show but August/Emma?' and then I tried to find their dedicated fans online and was shocked to see so few of us.
This fic really hit the spot for me and gave me all kinds of great warm feelings about the two of them while getting the tone and nature of their relationship (whatever does or doesn't exist) down perfect. I hope you write more!
