Karen!!! This is so lovely and quietly heartbreaking. I love what you did with Beck here, and I love how you explain him and his actions, which within the episode seemed to come out of nowhere and didn't make sense to me. And it all makes perfect sense now, here, and your writing is beautiful. And the little touches of his relationships with other people! His friendship with Andre, Tori asking to look through the letters and Beck letting her because of course he would, he isn't supposed to have secrets, his locker door is transparent. And cat offering a coloring book! Trina sneaking him alcohol right after was also a lovely touch. The details you provide! The way he thinks of Jade. Everything, I love everything.

I just really wanted to make Beck's actions make sense because there's no reason any part of that episode should have happened given that he has been okay with all the arguing before, and the only reason made apparent to me was if he was transferring his feelings from something else into that. Idk.

i love this idea that Beck isn't sure who he is, i love this idea that Beck is always defined in terms of Jade--because i think that is true, at least for the most part?--and i love how sad that is.

yyyyyy. you kind of have an inkling of who the others in the group are just by what they prioritize and the things they say or do, but beck is always just sort of ... tepid? and not in a bad way, but he's sort of this really chill always chill guy but people can't be chill all the time and so i'm like I JUST WANT TO KNOW YOU and maybe he wants that too.
