I don't really know where this came from either. Not super canon-adherent because the timeline of that show is ridiculous and several months to a year is squished in that moment between when Kim walks into Dreamland and when she meets Chris.

So I didn't know the plot of Miss Saigon until just now when I read this fic and then read the Wiki page for it because who am I. BUT I SEE WHAT YOU ARE DOING. That Kim wouldn't kill herself - it's a bullshit ending to the play, because why would she do that tho, and if she did it's because of racism which obviously Miss Saigon is steeped in because Orientalism why do you.

But this is beautiful, seriously; I am entranced by Gigi's voice and how she describes what's around her. And I don't know how much is your head canon but the story is fleshed out so well with all those little details - Gigi's back story, the prayers they say - lol Gigi's future story, of course she became a fierce bitch who wasn't going to let other people make her decisions for her anymore.

I love everything and I don't even know this show. Curse you.

Hahaha, Kim is a mess. Kim is a giant fucking mess and I wasn't going to touch on any of that except I tried to make it better but my canon doesn't really jive with their canon. PAULINE THE SHOW IS SO BAD BUT IT HAS GOOD SONGS AND IT IS SUCH AN ISSUE. Literally the Viet Cong are played by the ensemble actors - obviously - who then put white face make-up on and then draw these like giant thick black lines over their eyes which I guess is to make everyone look uniform since what are you gonna do hire a background of asian people ha ha ha but also has unfortunate implications. But yeah, Kim shoots herself in the head so that her son can be adopted by Chris and Ellen(!!) how perfectly Leave it to Beaver.

And Gigi is a fierce bitch but idg why she would be a VC unless she was a spy which I refuse to accept because personal feelings on North Vietnam and the war. And it always fascinates me that she'd name herself Gigi because French.
