Martha was sadly in the dorms and thus did not have the proper medical supplies other than her basic kit. She grabbed it the minute Mohinder told her the situation and was already running out the door as he gave her his location.

What she sees when she gets there is not pretty. Diana should have been dead with the gaping wound in her torso, and Mohinder looked as though he was trying to put distance between himself and her. And he looked worried.

Martha knelt beside Diana. "Sorry dear, I'm going to have to ruin your clothes more than they already are to get a better look at the wound." She looked up at Mohinder then. "Dr. Suresh. Please go to the lab and get me a bag of O+ plus an IV needle. Quickly." It was the only way she could think of to protect Diana's secret, if Dr. Suresh didn't know it... and to at least replace the blood.

What secret? Humans don't cry blood.

He'd said almost nothing to Diana between the time that Martha hung up the phone and arrived on scene. He mostly just... Panicked, silently. To himself.

"O pos--" No, he's happy for the task. Vampires prefer a certain blood type now? Good. He's AB positive. Off he runs. He'll be back. Quickly. He's not cruel.

The road to hell was paved with good intentions. A turn of phrase practically written for Diana's life. In trying to protect her secret, she'd done something wrong. A lot of things wrong. And it gnawed at her, to see a stranger, better yet, someone she probably owed her life to, staring at her...that way. As if she were...well...

...a monster.

At least, she supposed bitterly, Martha wasn't afraid. "Go ahead," she said softly, "isn't my shirt anyway. Found it in my kid's closet..."

Damnit I totally meant O- O+ is Martha's blood type. notrosesshadow July 26 2012, 03:17:42 UTC
As soon as Mohinder goes away she turns back to Diana, ripping the cloth as she does so. "So, you'll need to coach me a bit. Never worked on a Cainite before. Do you heal yourself? Do I actually need to give you anything?"

She grimaced. "I need blood. As you rightly guessed." Well, you had to be smart to be a doctor, right? Made sense. "I can channel it into healing, I just don't have enough in my system right now."

Diana had to close her eyes, forcing herself to take ragged, pained breaths. On the inside of her eyelids, she could see that look on Mohinder's face.

No, she didn't like it. Not at all.

"Did you see the way he looked at me?" she whispered.

Mohinder's fast. Spending the last year or so running away from things has helped a great deal on his speed. He grabs the proper blood and returns slightly winded, hair absolutely wild.

He'll sit beside Martha now. Diana said she won't hurt him, but he's heard that before. John's messed with his mind enough that there are likely scars there, and he immediately remembers to think exclusively in Hindi. Just in case.

"Do you need anything else?"

"Diana. That's..." She briefly squeezes the woman's hand. "Hardly the most important thing at the moment. But if you want an answer, remember not everyone is good about things they've never dealt with before. In fact, most people aren't. Especially if they had a bad experience first. It takes a lot of good to make up bad."

But she actually had more pressing things to discuss than people's prejudices or lack thereof.

"I'm giving you the blood intravenously. Is that going to work? And would you rather I send him away or should I let him stay when he gets back?"

Which at that moment Mohinder did come back and Martha took the blood from him. "You're not a medical doctor are you Dr. Suresh?" she asked as she laid out the supplies. "How good are you at attaching something like this to a patient?"

Frankly, Diana wasn't sure what she wanted with regard to Mohinder. Her pride could do with sending him away but, at the same time, she was feeling the desperate need to prove herself. And not because she was afraid of her secret getting out. At the rate people were figuring it out, she was beginning to wonder if that was inevitable. But no. She hated the idea of someone looking at her like...that.

Fortunately, she was spared having to make a decision one way or another. After all, it was totally rude to talk about someone who was standing right there.

Diana closed her eyes, focusing on her highly unnecessary breathing. Intravenous blood worked just as well as feeding and, frankly, would save her a little embarrassment. Diana had a thing about eating in front of others.

Martha was wrong about one thing though. About it hardly being the most important thing at the moment. After all, what was the point of living if people were afraid of you?

"I did go to medical school," Mohinder tells the doctor, "though I'm a not a medical doctor." His genetics degree at Cambridge did require some practical, hands on human training, though. He's more than just a lab monkey. "I can hang a bag."

But he doesn't want to. He's done with vampires. He's laying off of them. He knows his limits.

Jiohn got him addicted to his blood. He'd used him as a personal lunch truck and....

Oh Martha, don't ask him.

Martha wasn't going to ask Mohinder. His body language was too unnerving and she didn't want him to hurt the patient.

"Dr. Suresh," she began from the ground. "Thank you. You've done exactly what I needed. At this point, I have a team who can take it all from here. If you would like to leave, please do."

She began attaching the blood. "Also, I have some... things I need you to help me with. The don't make sense types of things. May I call you later?" She had no such things to discuss with him. She needed to figure out what his deal was because they can't afford doctors... any doctors panicking around those less than human patients.

Martha finally looked back down to Diana and used the shirt to dab at the blood on her face. "Blood is working. Pumping at least. Let me see what I can do to make you more comfortable before we move you somewhere else." Martha's actual plan is to let Diana heal herself and then take the woman back to the dorms so she can wash up.

She could immediately feel the blood pumping into her. And it took a lot of effort on her part not to immediately channel it into her chest. She needed to be careful. Needed to remain in control.

Her eyes opened a little bit, though, as she saw Martha wiping off her face. "Don't get it on your hands," she said, before she could stop herself.

Of course, vitae was perfectly harmless if it got on someone's skin. As harmless as any other type of blood. But if a human imbibed it...

Well. The last thing Diana wanted was to accidentally ghoul someone.

So, naturally, she was just going to panic everyone instead. "I mean," she said softly, "wash your hands."

God. Things were not working out. As always, she was causing more harm than good. But it wasn't like she had much of a choice. And, she supposed with a soft sigh, she wasn't going to forget her manners either.

She turned her head toward Mohinder. "Thank you," she told him quietly.

Well, thank you Martha Jones. "Of course," he says, because her request seems legitimate and as he can't keep his mouth shut on anything, personal or otherwise, he likely will go right ahead and tell her anything she wants to know. It's why compelling him is so ridiculous. And why using mind tricks is pointless.

Mohinder is a puppy. He is gullible. He believes what most people tell him, despite being a skeptic at heart.

And when the vampire thanks him, he smiles tensely and turns back to Martha. "Will you be all right? You shouldn't be alone."

"I'm a doctor dear," Martha said patiently. "I know where blood should and shouldn't go. Just relax OK?"

She was impressed when Diana had the presence of mind to thank Mohinder. She was less impressed with his reaction.

"I can handle myself just fine thank you. Besides," she pulls out her mobile. "My team will be here soon..." She dialed a fake number anyway. "Go on. I'm fine. Promise."

Really, Diana had no idea what this weird pissing contest between the doctors was about. On her best day, she wasn't exactly a mind reader and at present...well...she just dismissed that as one of the Things She Didn't Understand.

But what she did understand was that she couldn't take the pain anymore. Somehow, in the back of her mind, she could hear the little beast. Giggling. Ready to come out and play with her ever-enticing offer to take away all her problems.

Diana couldn't let that happen.

With a pained groan and nowhere near enough foresight, Diana channeled her vitae. It flowed to her chest, knitting together the torn flesh and bone. Her skin came back together, scarring pink, then white, then she was whole. Bloody and now hungry again, but whole.

The pain was nothing but a whisper. A dull ache. Physically, anyway. Mentally, she was gearing up for all kinds of anguish.

It's not much of a pissing contest because Mohinder doesn't have much of a medical background. He's more worried for Martha's safety. To be left along with a vampire? A hurt vampire? If he leaves, she might compel the doctor and...

Wait. Her team?

Mohinder knows everyone in medical. Sullivan, Watson, Hooper, Banner and that's it. Oh, maybe Bruce is coming down? Actually, he ought to go if that's the case.

He nods a bit to Martha and: "Be careful." He'll leave them to it.

"Thank you," Martha calls after him before turning to Diana, just in time to watch the wound heal to perfect. "I... that really just healed by itself... That's..."

Then she looks at Diana's eyes. "Diana... stay here... don't do anything stupid. What... what do you need?"
