I loved this! Your sense of humor is great and I love the way you seemingly effortlessly blend those lines in.

Evan is the king of running away from problems. It was good to see that by the end, he could face the problem of his sandwich. Who knows where that will lead?

Sandwiches are an important first step in many endeavors. = )

different voices, stitched together like the auditory version a ransom note made from newspaper clippings.
I loved this description.

The "Special Bucket"... whatever it was for or did, it would be hard to imagine an object more embarrassingly anticlimactic than that.

The "character-building adventure" phrasing sounds so manipulative, especially when the results apparently were not at all impressive the first time.

I think Evan probably made the right choice. :)

Thanks - I was very happy with the idea for the ransom note speaking, and went through several tries to find the wording for it that I liked. Glad the one I ended up with works. = )

Ah yes, The Special Bucket. I had originally planned to say something about the fact that you could hear the italics, but it didn't mesh with the idea that it might just be a regular bucket with some funny symbols etched into it. But yes, it's the most anticlimactic object I could think of.
