A few years ago I bought a tangerine iBook on eBay because I coveted one when they came out but couldn't afford it. I still use it occasionally, usually when I've bought some ancient CD-R in a charity shop.
*chuckle* I remember when you bought your late iMac. It was the first with no optical drive, IIRC. I'm still plugging along just fine with my 2011 iMac. The SSD's performance is still snappy after 10 years, and I've got the better part of a TB left on the internal HDD, too. Not seeing any need to upgrade for the foreseeable future. In fact, I fully expect this computer to outlive me. ^^
Yes, I always seem to end up buying a drive to plug in - I still like to rip CDs, for example.
That's very good going! I tend to adopt early and then keep things for as long as possible, so I go from 'wow, state of the art' to 'wow, you still run one of THOSE?'
