If I could change one moment of my past…. A question like that is like Pandora's box. There are so many I would want to change but be too scared to.
If I really had to pick one, I think it might have been that moment I was staring down the barrel of the Colt, looking at my possessed father. He was holding on to the Yellow-Eyed Demon inside him, just about keeping control, trying to give me time to finish it.
Dean was begging me not to do it - and I hesitated. Then I didn't shoot. I couldn't shoot.
But Dad died a few days later anyway, trading his life for Dean's. He died - making a deal with the demon that ruined his life, that destroyed our family…. Instead of fighting it, instead of taking it down with him.
If I'd just shot him. If…. I just hadn't hesitated…. The Demon would be dead and this would be over.
This would all be over.
