1. In 2014, I will read more books from the Biography section of the library. I need to learn more about other people's stories, stories of those who lived long ago or far away. It seems like one good way to get out of my mental rut ( Read more... )

1. I kinda want your icon as a screensaver.

2. For an idea of what's going on these days, what about checking out The Dish? It's a blog run by Andrew Sullivan, a gay Catholic man. He doesn't really have any filters, and some of his posts and series can be triggering and/or contain isms. But he has a really interesting way of looking at things, and his political discussions can be fascinating.

I don't know how to make a screensaver, but I could make it larger. At least I think I still have the original POV-Ray scene file around somewhere.

As much fun as it is to read blogs, I'm thinking more of things that don't require me to get online. I'm still on dial-up, you see...

Ah, yeah, I didn't realize you're still on dialup. The Dish probably isn't the best way to go, then, since posts sometimes have videos or several images.

Best new year's wishes to you! I hope you get all the Ethiopian food you want. (I've only had it once and didn't like it, so you can have all of mine!)

Thank you, Vicki! Happy New Year to you! It's hard for me to imagine not liking Ethiopian food. For me, a lot of the dishes are good comfort food. Do you remember what it was you didn't like?

I didn't like the sourness of the injera bread, and the curry-type vegetable dish looked unappetizing to me. Maybe it was just a poor restaurant, but my son and his wife seemed to like it all right. I'll try again sometime.

Ah. Yeah, if you don't like injera bread, Ethiopian food can be unpleasant. I've always been fond of sourdough, myself. As for the looks of the dishes, they're mostly stews. To me, stews don't really look appetizing, especially if they've been dumped on a plate in front of you. I still like the food and I am willing to eat your share. :-)
