And now, the stupidest editor ever (at least, for right now...)

The editor of "Cooks Source" magazine took part of an article that was posted online, and used it without compensation.  When the writer of the article called them on it, the editor's response was, in part:

"But honestly Monica, the web is considered “public domain” and you should be happy we just didn’t “lift” your whole article and put someone else’s name on it!"

Yep, that's right... according to this guy, EVERYTHING POSTED ON THE INTERNET IS PUBLIC DOMAIN!  Which, of course, gives them the right to steal an author's work, and publish it with neither acknowledgment nor compensation.  Except, of course, for the fact that that's TOTALLY WRONG.

John Scalzi has more information, including links to the original author's post and the magazine's Facebook page (where people from all over the web are... ahem... expressing their displeasure).

In the meantime, you may want to consider NOT providing "Cooks Source" with your business.  Being as their editor is a crook, and all.
