Well today marks the start of a diet and eventuall healthy eating plan here at Dale Street. With Graham determined to lose the stone or so he's put on in the last 3/4 months and me feeling uncomfortable in clothes that fitted perfectly at the beginning of the year, we've decided to do this together - dragging our housemate along for the ride too ( Read more... )

Good luck, wife! I think I self-sabotage diets, they just make me crave more rubbish! So mostly I just try to eat healthier stuff, or eat less of the unhealthy cravings (like cake D:).

I fully encourage healthy eating - and a bit of extra exercise, but you walk lots of places anyway so that's like super exercise for you. I too, need to stop eating crap. I started sit ups again this morning, plan on possibly joining the gym (horrifing but true) And of course have the swimming. Sadly, I don't like the way all the extra watching cuts into my life, so I am going to try and just try to eat less cakes and chocolate, and eat more veg and fruit.... It's harder than it sounds :(

Apologies for hijack! But I tend to drink a lot of water when I want cake/chocolate and reaaaaally shouldn't have it. It doesn't assuage the sweet craving, but if I drink enough of it, it does make me feel slightly ill and therefore puts me off. This is probably also terribly unhealthy, but it works, so, eh. LOL.

Like you ever need to apologize for hijacking me, darling!
Water is a good hunger disipator. (dissipator? Pater?...remover?) I tend not to drink that much water generally, but I will stock up intensely on tea more when I feel hungry. I'll be all "I'll have tea. Milk is good for you, so as long as it's not too fattening..."... but then I just have cravings for tea parties. Which means cravings for biscuits... etc. etc.

Tea is good! Without sugar it's only 14 calories per 200 mls which is your average sort of mug size :) But you have a valid point about the biscuit craving...try dried fruit instead if you want something sweet?
