Nonomura Shizuka lives with her father Junsuke, who runs a photo studio in a local shopping district. Junsuke was born with hearing loss while Shizuka's mother was deaf and died when Shizuka was a child. Shizuka, who can hear, has been acting as a substitute for Junsuke's ears since young. Due to this, Shizuka develops a habit of staring at the other person and talking with gestures during conversations. However, this habit is not well-perceived by people around her and she is often disliked and misunderstood by her colleagues. One day, Shizuka helps a young man to pay for his food when he forgets to bring cash with him. The young man is Michinaga Keiichi, who is not good at reading the atmosphere. The two who are not good at the so-called "normal communication" become drawn to each other.
