so how much textile stuff is actually in it?

The textile section is 'brief', being mainly composed of the second chapter in the first volume. However, the personal accessories and tools that are covered in great detail throughout the remaining sections make this book totally worth the investment in my mind.

I tend to be a reenactor by nature - someone who wants to get a good idea of not only what was worn by folks in the period, but how they lived and what their daily lives were comprised of. These books do a great job of providing detailed information based on observable data.

For chapter heading (which will give you a bit of an idea of the subjects covered), check out the information at the bottom of this link:

I've got a copy from the first run. Only cost me $100, back when it was new.

And yes, it's a freaking amazing book.

And clicking through the link? ALREADY OUT OF STOCK. Reenactors bitches, we buy books.

Color me totally not surprised at the rapid sell-out. I am not the only person who has been waiting for YEARS for them to rerelease this book... ;)

*book fist bump*

I guess I should appreciate our first printing copy - the spine hasn't broken, but it has been valuable for both our projects, and those of several friends.

I was sold the first time I saw all the 'exploded' archaeological blueprints for common items like chests...

It's slightly cheaper via Oxbow books in the UK, but obviously then you have issues getting it back over the pond.

My 1st edition is still going strong, but occasionally making nasty crack noises....

The only thing I think they could have done better would have been including a CD rom, as they have for Weapons of Warre

Agreed about the CD (I have "Weapons of Warre" as well); I am guessing they were concerned about the cost of developing the additional materials?
