my Bear

Apr 10, 2006 17:45

Hello everyone, just a short note.

My baby Bear had to go to the hospital last night because he was breathing weird. He is perfectly healthy except for the giant tumor in his chest that is taking up the space that his lungs need. It makes me really sad because he cannot play for long without running out of breath. I guess that is all I had to

:( Is it operable?

I hope he will be ok.

The chances of operation are not so good. We are basically trying to spend all the time we have with him and take him to parks and stuff to make his (most likely) last days really happy.

Can they remove it?

So sad... ;_; I hate to see creatures in pain.

The chances of removal are very very small. It is basically in the center of his chest, so all his major blood vessels etc are running through it. We are giving him some drugs now to see if it will reduce in size or not. The problem is that this tumor is very aggressive and usually manages to take up all the space the lungs need very fast. Keep Bear in your thoughts--he has another vet appointment next week.

lots of love towards you and brian and all the wonderful furballs. I know it is very hard to deal with a sick friend, I'm glad bear has a good home with you and brian - two people that will take the best care of him. He is a very lucky ferret and I will be thinking of him a lot.

Thanks Em. It is one of those super-sad things that I don't really want to tell people I work with about because I don't want to bum them out or start crying at work. But it is really hard and makes Brian and I both feel kind of isolated out here. So thank you for your support.
