FOUND!!! Searching for an old fic...
ETA: After posting https://hpficfinders.livejournal.com/314687.html & https://hp-ficsearch.livejournal.com/864987.html searching for this older fic - I tried some more detective work (searching and digging) and finally found the story (series) I was searching for! Yay, me! ;-)
The series is The Resonance series by GreenGecko
Resonance by GreenGecko. This story is told in 3 parts. In all it totals over 1.7 million words (thats more than the entire Harry Potter series put together). The first part starts with Harry defeating Voldemort and then being adopted by Snape. The second part takes place after Harry graduates Hogwarts and shows him starting his training to become an auror. The third part deals with some of the new powers Harry gained from defeating Voldemort. Throughout the series we also get to see Professor Snape grow and deal with some of the problems that comes from being a parent to The Boy Who Lived.

This was an older fic (series maybe?) that starts with Harry still a student at Hogwarts and Voldemort is still a thre searching for this older fic - I tried some more detective work (searchng and digging) and finally found the story (series) I was searching for! Yay, me!;)nal confrontation with Riddle happens at Hogwarts - like on just a regular day (or perhaps a regular Harry Potter fcuked-up Halloween?) - Harry was in the Gryffindor Tower resting (now that I think about it I think that it was Halloween and Harry didn't want to celebrate the day he lost his parents) when Riddle appeared and they fight on the grounds of Hogwarts. Harry defeats Riddle with some inane power he possesses. He doesn't want accolades or rewards for the defeat of Riddle but I believe Fudge insisted.

Dumbledore encourages/forces Harry to turn to Snape for mentoring and training and in turn encourages/forces Snape to mentor/train Harry. I think time passes and Snape finally offers to adopt Harry and Harry agrees. I think Dumbledore passes away from old age(?). Harry studies for his NEWTs (or maybe it's his OWLs?). I recall at one point they were all exhausted (Harry, Hermione, Ron, etc.) and Snape gave Harry a special potion to relieve his exhaustion - it's better than a pepper-up potion - and Harry tells him that he should offer that specialized version more often but Snape tells him that the special ingredient is something like cobwebs from an ancient Egyptian tomb. At one point he manages his first animagus shift (to a dragon?) in front of most of the school out on the Quidditch Pitch. I think Harry starts to develop more powers (either later in the same story or in a sequel or another in the series installment) and Snape encourages him to seek out others to help train/mentor the new powers. I think the stories/series was on fanfiction.net.
Does this ring any bells for anyone? Any help - links - advice where to search - would be greatly appreciated. Please and thanks in advance.
