Great narrative style, and a great perspective. The one thing I didn't understand is why Merope would tell Tom Sr. she gave the baby up when she hadn't.

Oh, great ending!

I really like this voice - Tom Sr is uncompromising and unpleasant in many ways, but also much more of a real person than I've ever envisaged him. You've really brought him to life here, and the snippets of his life with Merope are both horrific and heartbreaking.

Thanks! I do feel for him somewhat--what she did is the ultimate date rape, after all, but she's one person who I think could legitimately argue not having the faintest idea that what she was doing was wrong.
