Millicent twirled the fake tail of her cat costume around in a circle, waiting for Percy Weasley to step out of his private bathroom. She'd allowed him to pick his own costume, but made sure he would spend the entire evening occupied with various other Ministry personnel

Kevin entered the lobby of the Ministry with Lavender on his arm. He was quite glad she'd agreed to attend the dull function with him. He could imagine other more fascinating things to do on Halloween night, such as curling up in front of the fireplace with her to watch a movie.

"Did I tell you how smashing you look tonight?" he asked, tipping his pirate hat up so he could grin at her.

"Uh oh, confrontation between boyfriend and girlfriend at a public function can't be a good thing," he said as they passed a very upset looking Susan talking to a slightly confused Mike. "Now I really need a drink."

Lavender looked at the couple as they passed, but didn't know what they were arguing about, so she didn't worry about it too much. "Well I don't know about you, but I want a very strong martini."

"I'll probably have to slip away and console him later if it's that bad, which it looks to be," Kevin replied with a wince.

Lavender placed her order with the bartender, then smiled as he handed her drink to her. "That's alright. It's what friend's are for, right?"

"Yeah," he replied, ordering his drink. "If you'll be all right, I think I'll go over now."

Lavender nodded and smiled softly. "I'll be just fine. I'm sure there's someone around here I can talk to."

Reaching up, she planted a soft kiss on his cheek. "Just don't forget about our dance, okay?"

"Sure thing," he replied, brushing his fingers over her cheek. "See you in a bit, then."
