Nikola had always had a fairly good hold on his emotions. Whether it be anger or something lighter, he had never had a problem controlling them. Something had changed though since the tournament had begun. The boy suddenly found himself under a great deal of stress that he hadn't prepared himself for. Sure he had known that stress went hand in hand with the tasks but it was all of the extra helpings of it that were wearing him down

It really is amazing how easy they are to predict, like watching marionettes on strings. The slightest tug and they twitch, the most delicate of winds and they snap. You are tempted for a moment to snap this little one's strings. This pride of Wilkes, and Durmstrang, you wonder how they would react to seeing this precious little puppet all tangled up in strings and himself. You wonder how many messages you can paint in this pup's color.
But that is not the plan.
You don't move from your hiding place, and very low, so low in fact, you wonder if the boy will hear it at all you begin to growl.
It's times like this you wish Daddy was around. He'd be so proud of his pup.
Nik is still unconsciously rubbing his fingers together, as if to make the blood go away completely his efforts only causing it to smear against his skin. His eyes scan the area completely and for a moment he is relieved that they catch nothing out of the ordinary.
Then the faint growling comes to his ears. There is about two seconds that he can't move at all, glued to the pavement and eyes wide with uncertainty. With another gulp and his mind forcing him to move, he is up on his feet. The wand that he always carries with him is now drawn from his robes and clutched tightly in his hand as he takes a few steps back.
The castle is nothing but shadows and you have lived in shadows for years now. You know how to bide your time, to wait and hunt. You move from your place, a little closer but still masked in shadow. He can't see you yet. If he sees you, it'll be over before you're done. You can smell the fear. Yes, yes you think.
Keep it together. You're not afraid, are you? Brave little child. You won't run.
That makes you very stupid.
You deepen the growl, and snarl for good measure. Then, because the wand amuses you, you position yourself to just behind him. Then, you draw one finger- still red and sticky- across his neck.
