Who? Dave Sanders and Matthew Heim What? Asking questions of a wonded child. When? grownhp6words timeline Why? To try and find out who. Author's Note: Due to RL(TM), this may go a tad more slowly than usual.
Matthew had barely said two words since being brought to the hospital. The healers had told the auror who brought him there that he had to leave. That was the last person that Matt saw outside of healers. His name had been Gideon and he'd told him that he would be fine
( ... )
Maybe it was a lie, what Gideon had told him, but there were different flavours of 'fine'. And since Matthias Heim was not exactly operatively in charge right now, there would be no putting down, at least immediately. Of anyone, as far as Dave was concerned. Even at times of anti-werewolf legislation there had been cases terribly slacked, of werewolves definitely guilty who had gotten away with it for a long time. (Of course, if they did identify the ones guilty of the attacks without doubt... well it wouldn't be in Dave's hands then. Unless said werewolves resisted apprehension, that is.)
There didn't seem to be any rabid animals here. Only a quiet, hurt child who had been infected with a curse.
Dave moved to sit by the bed and left the watch and the two paper bags on the stand beside it, right along some potion the mere colour of it could make one wince that was already sitting on the surface looking guilty"Do they care for you all right? Do you want anything from home, or something?" Yes, well, there was a bit of a record of odd
( ... )
"This is my home now," he said automatically. Because it's true. Even if they don't decide to come and put him down, even if his grandfather can't have the creature wearing Matthew's face put to sleep, he will never be welcome in the Heim home again. His chest tightens a bit and he feels tears stinging his eyes
( ... )
He was a brave boy indeed. Dave couldn't not admire how he was trying to deal what was happening... it was a child. He wanted to do what he did when his little girl was upset - scoop him into his arms and hold him till he knew that... What? Things were all right? Well they weren't quite. They were not unredeemably tragic, but the kid's life was going to be changed, for sure.
Dave frowned very slightly to himself. "Hospitals aren't homes. If..." he recalled Matthias' insistence that the boy was dead and corrected that thought. "You will have a home, a real one. But I meant if you want some of your things, the ones you're used to
