He was more than a little surprised at the 'message' coming into his mind as he relaxed looking at the fire and Bellatrix lay sleeping on the bed behind him. The healer said she would live, their child had not been harmed and with time everything would be fine. But she needed to rest, no more running off and fighting. Rest.

But the words, that voice in his mind.

Slowly he looked over at Bella's form before turning back to the fire and opening the connection fully.

"What is it that you want?"

Once he got the response he relaxed even more. It was easier to let Voldemort stay in control of things. After all, it was his soul that allowed the connection, not Harry's.

"I felt your reaction to Bellatrix. I'm aware of the child. I wish to meet with you and discuss a resolution to this war."

His lips didn't move at all. Everything was said using his mind only. Once upon a time he feared this connection. Now he was determined to use it to both of their benefits. His hand tightened around Hermione's to give her a silent signal that Voldemort had made contact.

"During the last war neither of us had children of our own to consider. I think, perhaps, you will agree that this changes things. I'm willing to come to you, along with Hermione, to meet with you and Bellatrix alone. The four of us could end this once and for all. Death didn't work last time. Perhaps we should look to a new solution."

He said nothing for a while, the knowledge of his child and heir wasn't something he'd wanted anyone to know. There was hope that the child could have been passed off as that unworthy husbands of her's, but now it seemed that this was not to be the case.

"And what solution do you expect the four of us to come to Harry?"

The fact that he seemed open to hearing Harry out surprised him. Being this close, locked in each other's minds, he felt like he could get a better read on him. Being honest was the way to go. Voldemort had a knack for knowing when he was being lied too ( ... )

He squeezed her hand tight and thought about the location they were aiming for. The first time he revisited his childhood home had been with Hermione when they had used polyjuice potion to try and blend in.

Now they were all grown up and walking together wearing their own appearance. He took another deep breath and felt like his lungs were screaming in protest. Relax, just do this. An unbreakable vow, a killing curse, and all would be well again right? Right.

They arrived at the house and he looked at it for a long moment before turning to look at her. "Suppose waiting in front it good enough. Doubtful he wishes to go all the way up to the nursery to relive the not quite good old days."

She leaned against him a little tired on her feet. "When this is all over and you're back you owe me big time Harry Potter. You will be taking me out and buying me the biggest ice cream in the world while we watch out children play in the park near your house." She didn't wait for him to say deal, "And then you will come with me and Ron to help us find your new niece or nephew and...and maybe a new pet. And paint for the little one's bedrooms." So many things to demand of him, mindless things because he had to promise to come back then. He just had to.

"All of that and them some, you have my word," He said in a tone that was just this side of desperation. Because he knew that she was starting to worry too. There was no guarantee that he would be permitted to come back this time. He'd promised so many people he'd live, and Merlin he really wanted to keep that promise. He still had so much to do. His children, his wife, his family and friends, they still needed him and he needed them too.

"Hermione, I'm sorry to leave you with sorting this out and keeping the secret, but I'm grateful you agreed to do it."

Before he could say anything else he felt his scar ache and looked up to see Voldemort and Bellatrix approaching. His wand was in his hand, but Harry made no move to raise it. This was about peace. He gave Bellatrix a considering look and realized she and Hermione both were not in top form.

"Are you opposed to doing it here? It's poetic isn't it? Finishing it where it began for us. Hermione and Bellatrix, they're not one hundred percent and a portkey would only exhaust them more."

He'd watched them silently, an arm around Bellatrix to steady her on her feet. Slowly his eyes looked towards the dark ruined building before them before looking back at Harry and the mudblood. He took them both in, both tired, the woman injured and slowly he nodded.

The sooner they could get this over and done with, the sooner they could try and find some kind of 'peace' and get on with their lives.

"If you would prefer."
