the image of little harry in that cupboard, and even petunia sneering as she bathes him with as little touch as possible has kept me awake at night.

I'm a lot like Ron here. I can't imagine listening to a child cry and not going to comfort them. When my son was 15 months old, I thought about little Harry, going from a loving home, to one where no one wanted him, and it broke my heart. I think, sometimes, that Harry's mother's sacrifice did more than simply protect him from Voldemort. It must have protected him from the Dursleys as well!
