Slytherin fingerless gloves

Aug 29, 2007 15:21

I've been meaning to make fingerless gloves to match my Slytherin scarf for the entire year and a half since I finshed the scarf (including all last winter while I was wearing said scarf). I finally used a transatlantic flight as an opportunity to make myself finish them. (Want to know how long it take to get from Warsaw, Poland to Raleigh/Durham via Newark? One pair of armwarmers, apparently.)

These aren't the bestest pictures ever, I'm afraid. They also make my look like I have no hair and no neck. But, I've been so bad about photographing and posting FOs lately I'm afraid if I don't do it now, I never will.

Here I am, all dressed up for a frigid North Carolina August...

Yarn: Morehouse Farm Merino, in Hemlock and Natural Silver. These were leftovers from my scarf. They're not quite the authentic Slytherin colors (for one thing, the silver is somewhat brownish) but I like them.

Pattern: None, really. I cast on 28 stitches, knit the cuffs in 2x2 rib, increased for the thumb, bound off all but 4 of the increased stitches to make the thumb opening, then finished up the hand. I think I may have made the hand part a bit too long. We'll see how I like them this winter.

Needles: Size 5 Clover bamboo DPNs (I thought they'd alarm the Polish authorities less than metal circs).

I already posted about my scarf way back when I finished it so I will just provide the link and not say more about it here. :-)
