I finally finished my Slytherin set! ( Picture! )

My friend and I are both huge Harry Potter fans. I spend last Christmas (and the 5 month prior to it) in USA and had easy access to the patches and such. So I decided to knit her some scarves! Recently I knitted myself a gryffindor beret.

i've just knitted a PoA-style slytherin scarf and i'd like it a lot more if it wasn't so thick!!!!! >_< i live in florida and even if i lived in freaking Chicago it'd be too thick. i used Unger Utopia from Patternworks in Forest Green and Soft Grey and the yarn says worsted weight but i think it's borderline heavy worsted. lovely yarn. just thicker ( Read more... )

crochet scarves. someone asked me about these. this is my second crochet HP scarf, but my first PoA crochet slytherin scarf. that was maddeningly specific. doing this reminded me of how boring it is to do nothing but double crochet for hours on end, so I'm going to knit something dramatically complicated and Fair Isle now.

The result of my grand attempt to see if I could dye self-striping sock yarn in the style of the trapped-bar PoA Harry Potter scarves. There are some people who sell hand-dyed yarn like this on Etsy and I wanted to see if I could dye some myself.

( No wonder trapped-bar self-striping yarn is expensive... )
