Oh what an awesome story!!! This was a perfect missing moment out of DH, I can totally see all of it happening. I love Susan and Hannah's friendship and their interactions with everyone else - everyone had distinct personalities that really jumped off the page. And the plan! What an ingenious plan, and I love how the girls just kept rolling with whatever was thrown in their way.

Very very well done. Thank you so much!!!

Thank you for liking this. I worry that I haven't done well by my giftee. Writing the girls as friends was a lot of fun. Thank you for your kind words.

(It was interesting that we ended up writing for each other.)

I'm glad the students relationships and banter came off well. I wanted the relationship between the girls to be center stage.

I love Auntie Amelia too.

This was so good! I loved your Susan--she's understanding and kind and honest and so very real. Her bond with Hannah is just perfect, and their understated bravery and cunning was inspired. Furthermore, this fic was thrilling! I couldn't tear my eyes away, and I'm so happy I got to read it in one go without being disturbed. From that first gloriously tense scene with the "Nutter," to the ambiguity of Summersby's allegiances, to the terrifying scene in the kitchen--oh, it was just so good! When Susan and Hannah were hugging in the bedroom and laughing uneasily, I admit, I let out a rather shaky breath myself. I loved this fic from top to bottom. Very, very good job!

Thank you for your wonderful words. Writing a more plotty action oriented story was a real stretch for me, so I'm thrilled to hear that I created some tension and suspence. Thank you again.

Gosh, that was spectacular. Susan's fears are palpable, the plot is excellent and gripping, these characters were all alive to me throughout the fic. I like that the story has a greater scope than what we're shown - who was the Nutter who warned them about Summersby? Was he right?
I have so many favourite passages and lines, but I'll settle for this one: "It wasn't that bad," Susan said laughing. "We weren't in our scanties." Trust Megan to make her laugh. It felt so good that Susan did it again just because she could.
Loved Rosmerta, and the kitchen, and Susan finding Ernie handsome.
Your writing is flawless. Thanks for a wonderful piece, velvetmouse is so lucky!
