A million apologies for my tardy response, my dear; RL bit deep this week, and today was the first time I had a chance to sit back and revel in my gift.

And what a wonderful gift it is! I was so pleased to see your name on my drabble; I knew it would be a winner, and I was not disappointed. You do so much in these 200 words, from establishing an evocative Halloween atmosphere to exploring Minerva's character with depth and nuance to creating a complete little story. I love Minerva's careful ritual, with the rosemary for remembrance; I love how you build the bittersweet tension as she sternly tells herself to be realistic while at the same time wishing and hoping. . .

The lovely, ambiguous caress of the wind is a delicate and effective touch, and the ending is as heart-breaking for us as for her. Yet I felt a catharsis, and I'm sure Minerva did, too.

But this night of Samhain was a sacred night, and since her husband’s passing she would insist on spending it in solitude, honouring the ancient rituals, all for herself and the ( ... )

But OMG, I'm so, so glad that you enjoyed it! <3333 It was such a pleasure writing for you, especially my beloved Minerva (she's been my favourite character ever since I started reading the books when I was 7 <333), but I was SO nervous whether I could do her justice! Also, your prompts were simply amazing, it's particularly the rituals are so fascinating to explore.

She strikes me as the type who would be unwilling to walk out of the school when there are duties to attend to. So the fact that she does, tells me this is a really special event for her. I’m glad she can step away to attend to her own needs on this night.
