Beautiful characterization, both of Snape and of Albus, and I loved the way that he made sense of his Sorting. A gem of a story.

This was nice. I love the idea of Snape having a portrait in the Slytherin common room but refusing to acknowledge the students. It was a kind gesture for Snape to give Albus status among the Slytherins by speaking to him when it was clear that his dorm mates were leery of him. Lovely.

It was important for Snape to finish what he had to say, regardless of who was listening. Right? ;) Glad you liked it!!

This was fantastic! I've never personally seen Al in Slytherin, but this was very well done -- and Snape was marvelous. Maintaining his real life personality, but tempered by time and knowledge and the lack of bitterness he constantly held in life.

Bravo!

Eh, poor dead guy was only bitter because he had to be, right? I mean, once he died, there probably wasn't much to be bitter about. Except ... death. Ah well. I'm glad his personality was believable, and the Al-in-Slytherin bit was part of the prompt, but I found I actually rather liked this version of him. Glad you did too!

Albus slowly lowered his hand. “No, you don’t,” he said, more calmly than he felt. “You know who my father is.” Clever boy! He would have done well in Ravenclaw, too.

“Yes. I had heard that your parents, in their … fondness … for me, decided to burden you with my forename,” I've always wondered how Snape would feel about that. Excellent use of triple dots.

And if he wasn’t hearing things, Professor Snape had also just sort of complimented his dad. I like how you show that in talking with Albus Severus, Snape turns out to have some appreciation for Harry, too.

Your Albus Severus is a very likeable lad; I quite understand what Snape sees in him. And his desire to figure out how to be just 'him' is brave, indeed.
