heh. i seem to be on a roll tonight, writing about characters whom no one likes or wants to empathize with.
thank you!

You have made me feel sorry for Finch, one of the most despicable characters in all of Harry Potter. And huge props for the Greek mythology references!

*loves on you and the story*

thank you. i am also not a filch fan (no surprise there). however, JKR's last update did make me think (at least a little more clearly) that it must really suck to be a squib. it would be like ... well, i dunno. i don't even have a real-life comparison. something like your kid being an autistic savvant, maybe.

and i enjoyed greekifying his family. i've always assumed his name comes from the argo, so it was fun to turn medea the mother around and make her the nice one.

I have frequently wondered when reading canon how PAINFUL it must be to be a Squib from a wizarding family! No wonder he's so mean to the students...it's like having your nose pressed against the glass every day...

When I first read the books, I wanted to be a witch SO BAD!! I can totally sympathize...

Aw...now you've gone and made me feel bad for Argus Filch!

i guess i must have considered it when i first read CoS, but that was several years ago and mean!squib!filch has just become part of the universe. kind of like the malfoys' treatment of dobby - it stops being surprising or shocking after you read it one or two or sixteen times. but i agree - it must be horribly painful. i assume your parents would try to love you, but they never would, and they'd also wonder which one of them had given you the "bad genes." (oh no, here we go with JKR's wizarding-genes-problem again.)

anyway. glad you read and enjoyed it.
