Curves Tutorial

The curves tool is a great thing to know, but many tutorials don't explain how to use them. Since I was one of those people that felt disoriented when I came across a tutorial with curves, I thought I'd help the curves-confused.

This is the third Curve tutorial I have saved but the first one I have understood. I use CS2 so I'll have to figure out where it is. Thanks so much! (PS... how 'bout explaining masks next.. I have several tuts on those and still can't use them!)

Hahaha, I'm not entirely sure I totally understand masks. I know how to somewhat use them, and I find them useful, but as far as being able to explain to people as easily as I was for the Curves tutorial? Not so likely. Heh.

Hi, ^_^ um,
I was about to make a post in icon_tutorial about this, I was looking for the curves tut for CS2, and I was wondering if either of the two you have saved are for that?

I'm sure I can change this one a bit, but I need as much help as I can get.
Even if you don't have one, thanks anyway! <3

just a quick question about curves:

does it reset back to the original when you open a new jpg?

If you use an adjustment layer, yes, but if you use the curves tool in brightness/contrast, no.
