Dick is an actual human being, even if he isn't always presented that way on the show. It's what makes him so much fun to write!

I'm not sure I would call Mac 'with' Bronson after just one kiss on screen, but I'm a firm believer in the idea that unless relationships are talked about and boundaries firmly established, then they're fair game. Snickerdoodles actually occured before the Bronson kiss, which makes that kiss more belieable to me anyhow, and this after. In my head (and the backstory between these two fics), the reason Dick hunted up Mac in this fic is that he heard about Bronson, and that just won't do at all, will it? Not when he finally opened up to someone.
