He doubts anyone's particularly surprised, but they're pretending to be. And since his department won't be his department in, oh, a couple weeks now - Jordan's been finding himself on extended furlough. A lot of time spent reading books in the library, which isn't that surprising, considering he used to work there.
The choice of books might be a little more surprising.

So, he starts the conversation at a nice, logical point. The book in Jordan's hand.
"Was 'Lord' really his middle name, or did he just stick his title in the middle for some reason?" Ignorant, innocent question. It'll do for now.

"It's the English manner of titles," he says instead, turning the page. "Alfred, Lord Tennyson, isn't any different than Teddy, Two of Hearts or October, Two of Spades."
