[OTA] ...Talk About Unexpected

Dec 31, 2012 09:25

It's nearly noon and Silas hasn't seen Narcissus since nine. He's concerned, to say the least, especially when he starts hearing hisses. So instead of eating his lunch, he's briskly walking after the sounds, only to stop short when he rounds a corner. It's suddenly silent, and there's a pile of rather content looking animals at his feet ( Read more... )

Well, he won't be getting any help from Leigh. She's just going to be trotting past him to start petting the cats. Louis chewing a lock of her hair is also happening. Buttons can have the cookie in her pocket.

Damn it, Leigh.

"What am I even looking at right now, Bookworm?"

Because. Um. Yeah. What.

She turns her head back to look at him, tugging her hair slightly out of Louis' mouth. "Well, they all look pretty sleepy t'me. So it's probably that?"

Though she wasn't really sure the lamb was allowed in the castle. Better not mention it to Säde.

Lamb. Chewing on hair. Nope, his brain is still not processing what he's looking at. So he's going to step closer when Thyme starts cleaning Narcissus' head.

"Might be, but Narcissus has a place to sleep in my office. Do they have to do it here?"

"An oddly pile," Piper observes from her precarious perch on a china cabinet further down in the hallway. "Oddly, oddly, like many many things."

"It is quite odd, isn't it?"

But when he spies her, he's walking down the hall and holding out his arms. He's going to be helping her down now, please.

"Why don't you come down, my glimmering little angel?"

"Not a glimmering Sparkly, silly," she murmurs before slipping down from the cabinet into his arms.

"You're a beautiful little angel and that's all that matters," he chuckles, catching her. Holding her close against his chest for a moment so he can swing her around before setting her back down on the floor.

"What were you doing up there, anyway?"

You missed one, Silas. But Q does kind of blend in when he wants to.

"I was wondering where he'd gotten off to."

Damn animals. There are far too many of them in this corridor right now and he's really just not sure what to do about it.

"...Apparently it's a meeting we weren't invited to."

This is not his impressed face.

"Maybe they're solving all our problems." It's a thought. Q could even be brainstorming how to get he and Hadyn to stop giving each other the silent treatment - in which case, Elisha wished him luck.

"At least Bond isn't here. I can only imagine what ten week old puppy would add."

"Yeah. Note to self, get the four-legged critters on the problem-solving committee. That's sure to conquer every issue ever to arise," he snorts, shaking his head. Wouldn't that be one to tell the grandkids?

And he definitely does not look excited about this idea. At all. "I don't want to know what a ten-week-old puppy would add."

Well, that's... definitely not something you see every day.

She's rounding the corner herself, taking a bit of a wider turn as she's wont to do, which is likely for the best, since it would have ended up with her running into her King.

"Silas...?"

And then she spots what he's staring out.

"...Hm. You know, I've seen many, many things in my life. But I am quite inclined to believe this is one of the strangest."

"Yeah," he says quietly. He's too shocked to actually have proper volume, and he doesn't have the first clue what to do right now.

So he's going to move over to stand by Rachel, instead, just gaping at the pile of critters.

Her elbow rests against her knee as she cups her chin in a hand, studying the sight with quiet contemplation.

"I wasn't aware we'd acquired another sheep." Or a pig, for that matter. But then, she has been out of the loop in terms of the pet scene.

Shaking his head, Silas sighs.

"I can't justify it any better than you can. I think the sheep is Säde's, and I know the pig is Tally's. The white fluffball is Cadogan's. The gray one is mine." Disaster animals.

"I'm not actually imagining this, right? That's a pile of exhausting-looking animals in my hallway?"
