Ready to be disturbed at the end of a busy day

Margo collapsed on her bed, which was finally in her new apartment in Club Castle. She had no intention of sleeping yet, it was still early evening, but she felt satisfied to wallow in her accomplishments for a short while. Her day had been reasonably productive; she had cleared out many of her old belongings, including some furniture which simply ( Read more... )

New person-- or, well, a returning face, but one that Jimmy wasn't around to see. He's been in the Deck for six years: a long time in his opinion, but to the Deck-babies, sometimes he's still an outsider. Either way, someone moving into a place new or old need some necessities. The Club Kitchens provide a-plenty, but Farmer Jim thinks Deck-grown fruit and vegetables never go amiss.

An overexcited and bounding border collie can always go amiss, however, which is why he keeps a hold of Lasky by the collar and-- unable to knock-- calls a touch wryly from the doorway in his still Bulgarian-tinted accent. "Room service?"

Off the bed she hopped, to open the door. The voice on the other side was distinctly unfamiliar. The sooner Margo came to acquaint herself with other members of her suit, the better.

She was pleasantly surprised to see the man and his excitable border collie waiting outside her room. She had to resist the temptation to fuss over the dog before she greeted his (or her) owner. "Hello Sir. Anything I can do for you-- and your dog?"

"No need for 'sirs,' mila, I'm just Jimmy. I work on the farm." Possibly she can tell-- the toweringly giant man's clothes are a bit on the well-worn side, and not short on mud (though he always wipes his boots before coming into the castle: her sister possibly played some part in that reinforced behaviour). "Thought I'd bring you some eggs and the like... er, do you mind if I let Lasky go?"

It's always best to ask. Still, Jimmy only has one hand, and he's going to need it to unsling his 'welcome home' gift of sorts from his opposite shoulder. The dog's tail whacks against his legs as it wags, Lasky grinning her border collie grin up at Margo.

Even though she was deaf in one ear, Margo could hear quite clearly with the other. However, there were times- such as this- when she needed to read people's lips and tilt her head to catch their words. Jimmy's accent was not especially strong, just different enough to encourage her to listen carefully.

"Nice to meet you Jimmy. I'm glad to hear the Clubs have a working farm, it was much quieter when I was last here." Luckily for him, she was not as fastidious as Karin. Dirt and dust were tolerated in her quarters, she expected to be lectured on this shortly.

"You are too kind. Please, let your dog loose before she bursts." During the conversation there had been time enough for her to check whether Lasky was, in fact, a 'she'.

Lucas Addison was not the most social of guys, but he was a part of Castle Security. Which, while not 'handyman Monty' status, did involve fixing the oddball things sometimes. Like doors. Of course Margo's door wasn't the one he needed to fix, but it was the room number he'd been given.

Kyle probably did it on purpose.

But all the same- he knocked, without thinking too hard on the fact that the lock on the door looked awfully new.

The door opened smoothly enough. Margo greeted Addy with a smile, "H'llo milord." There was no trace of irony in her voice. She had last seen Addy shortly before her departure, while he was on leave from the Armed Forces.

"Is there a problem?" she asked, noticing the toolkit he had with him.

I literally forgot I had this tag -_- I am soooo sorry. Bean me. It is okay. escapeandevade July 19 2012, 04:23:47 UTC
"Uh...New lock?" He asked, staring at her a moment before waving it off a second later.

"Don't need to Milord me." He wasn't English royalty, after all. It was a bit of a silly practice around the deck if he was asked. "I....didn't know you were back."

"Must be a mix-up," she remarked apologetically.

"Old habits... I like the term though. Especially as a greeting rather than a title." Her time away had not lessened her fondness for certain Deck traditions. In some ways, it felt as though she had never left.

"I just slipped back quietly, I didn't want to make a fuss."

"Uh... Miss?" Lexa raps at her door, opening it without waiting for a response and peeking in. She wasn't so big on manners yet, even after being in the Deck for months. As long as she got the task at hand done, she saw no point in being polite about it - though this would probably change in the future.

Anyhow. The pressing issue here wasn't of Lexa's mannerisms, but of the furniture she had found. So she'll introduce herself with a, "This chair out'n the hallway belong t'you?"

The door had been left unlocked for a reason. Margo had been having people coming in and out all day. Not being the most private person, she was not at all phased by someone inviting herself in. While she was good with her court manners, for the most part, Margo could easily slide out of the habit in the right company.

"Yup. Well- it used to be. I have to get rid of it. Things were getting pretty cramped in here." She sits up straight, tilting her head towards the girl, "D'you know of someone who can use it?"

"Not really. Just wondering what it was doin' out there, y'know, alone. Whatever. I can take it out t'the dumpster f'you'd like. Or somethin'." She runs a hand through her hair. "Name's Lexa Castillo. Two'f Clubs. Who're you?"

"Its fine," she insisted. She was already planning to give the chair away to a second hand shop but didn't bother explaining all of this. A lot of what Lexa had just said eluded her so she skipped ahead to introducing herself.

"Margo Alder, Three of Clubs. Just another dogsbody around here-- you won't need to call me 'Miss' again."

He hadn't known Margo very well beyond passing. A few conversations here and there due to mutual acquaintances knowing each other. Well, Lacy knew about everyone on the Deck, and he simply followed. But it was nice to hear someone returned and was living not too far from his apartments. He gave a quiet knock on the door to say hello to Margo. It had been a while.

The door was already open a notch so Margo swung it aside and slipped out. She had been on her way out, anyway.

"Good to see you, Sir," she said with a grin, "I'm glad you're still here. How are you?"

"Ms. Alder, we are not going into that 'Sir' thing again, are we? It's been a few years and I'm still at Five. If you wanted, you can call me by my first name." He offers the younger woman a faint grin. "I wanted to say welcome back."

"Five is still higher than Three but I think I'll be able to call you Christopher-- that is your name, isn't it?" she asked teasingly. She had to bite her tongue to stop herself from asking after Lacy. He did not need to be reminded of past hurts.

"I feel very welcome but I'd better start making myself useful or I'll be turfed out on my ear."

[[Eight years ago she left, yes? Then Argine would not have been Queen yet, and Edgar would still have been alive I believe (off two years the first time, whoops)... in any case they should have known each other. And Margo may be surprised to find her twice widowed now.]]

Argine knocked lightly on Margo's door. This one was welcome she would like to do by herself.

The Queen of Clubs would have to forgive Margo's surprised expression upon opening the door. She had been pleased to hear about Argine's becoming queen, it was a pity that the Clubs' monarch no longer had Edgar at her side.

Margo soon remembered her manners and inclined her head, "Milady."

"Argine, right," she acknowledged this with a firm nod. "Settling in again-- I'm glad to have experienced the Outside but I needed to bring some structure back into my life."

There were many things she could ask of her queen. Margo chose to catch up on recent events rather than request detailed account of all that had happened in eight years.

"I hardly recognised the Suit when I got back but it's running well. Please, come in."
