That book helped hubby and I a LOT when we read it a few years ago. My receiving language and his giving language just didn't match. He's worked harder to speak my language and understands more when I don't respond as enthusiastically as he might to his more natural way of giving.
For my part, I've worked harder at speaking his language.
Hmmm, yeah, that sounds fascinating. I'm familiar with (several flavors of) different styles of speaking & with partners preferring or valuing different things, but I didn't know about an systematic "OTC" way of expressing & quantifying those differences. Thanks for posting this! Figures you'd know about it: you may have the highest EQ I've ever met....
I suspect that Larry & I prefer markedly different ways of love, as in so many other things. I really can't conceive why I'm still so ridiculously fond of the daft boy. Must be brain rot. ;-)
Because when you fall in love - your brains fall out yer ears.
I think Ed and I are probably different too. I felt sheepish selecting "little gifts" so many times - but then it turned out near the bottom so I guess I'm not totally mercenary! :-)
Interesting! Now I'm really curious to see what Ed gets... I got
The Five Love Languages My primary love languages are probably Physical Touch and Quality Time.
Complete set of results Physical Touch: 8Quality Time: 8Words of Affirmation: 6Acts of Service: 4Receiving Gifts: 4
