I always think "The highway is right outside the entire building. The reason you chose to stay here is that we are located in a convenient location near the freeway."
I love it when they are staying here and come down with a laundry list of complaints, then want to extend their stay. My former FOM once had me tell a woman "I don't care if the hotel falls down around you, you are not getting a dime back on another night's stay." That was fun.
I always just get all "kill them with kindness" and just butter up my voice and say "Can I give you a list of the other hotels in the area, because i wouldn't want you to stay in one you don't like or think is overpriced...there is a ****** just down that road like 5 blocks with the **** rate and attached to the 24hr Timmy's it's very nice" They can have the B****! Feels good when they get all flustered and confused but they usually always end with "well i'm already here and I don't want to drive" Douche!!
I had a similar guest last week I'm like why the hell are you staying here then when you keep telling me how much better the hotel up the road is.
I get people bitching about noise too from the highway. I got chewed out one night when a bunch of fire trucks went by and some guy was bitching like I can call the fire department and tell them to turn off their sirens someone alseep is more important then the life you are trying to save. I also had some guy that told me once it'd be nice if I had warned him there was going to be this much traffic tonight like I can predict the traffic flow.
Also come winter I get yelled at every night if a salt truck comes through to salt our parking lot. I'm like dude they are laying down salt so you don't walk outsode and crack your head open.

She asked if we have rooms avail, then said that she stopped by during the day, and the hotel wasn't as nice as she thought, blah blah blah
I was like "nope, no rooms". I made it sound so she would know that I'm bsing, cause we were like 40% occ, haha
