Parker grinned, and climbed out on the fire escape over the side alley. "Seriously? Was it Johnny Storm, or some other fire-obsessed student there? And damn, sorry it wasn't dirty."
"No," Ronan replied, chuckling softly. "Although Johnny managed to make me melt pretty well back in the summer. One of the new students. I don't even know her name. She threw water on me. Soapy, lemony water. Because I'm a wizard."
"Someone's taking their Hollywood movies waaaay too seriously," Parker opined, leaning over the railing to watch the traffic go by. "And was that the only reason? The wizardry? I don't think she's going to be making friends and influencing people much, if she keeps reacting like that to every new thing."
"Apparently," and if she listened, Parker could probably hear Ronan's shrugging, "where she comes from, all wizards are evil. Or at least annoying. And they speak Latin."
"They so need to update that welcome brochure, so new students can get used to the idea of different worlds before they get there." Parker smiled and teased, "So, anyone offer to loan you a change of clothes?"
Parker cackled gleefully. "Good to know he's a pro-active boyfriendly type. I'd hate to leave you in the hands of a slacker." She tilted her head, and sent a look back into the hotel. "How's the new semester going so far? I missed you at New Year's."
"The semester's going well," Ronan said. "And yeah, I was still on Long Island -- my Long Island -- for New Year's. ... Minus the trip up to the moon. But yeah, the semester's... interesting. Peter's brother is here teaching a class. And I'm in it."
"I was nervous at first, but the first class went well, at least. I think I may have impressed him a little. Possibly. And we went to the moon because our friends Filif and Sker'ret came in from off-planet to meet us for a little bit." It was strange how much of a void he felt there, not mentioning -- not being able to mention -- Roshaun coming to visit, too, even almost two years later. "To help ring in our new year."
"Coooool." Parker smiled. "Keep up the impressing, and there'll be more trips. Filif... that's the one that's a tree, right?" She leaned back on the railing, thinking of Weiss, and talking to him on the phone at New Year's last year. And celebrating his birthday with him, on that same day. She stifled a sigh. "I'm in L.A. at the moment. I go back to school tomorrow."
"Filif's a tree, yeah, and Sker's... more or less a giant centipede. Who eats everything that's not bolted down, and some things that are. What's in L.A.?"
"Friends. Angel, Logan." She paused. "The one that there was so much trouble with over Finals week back there. Isabel and I are doing... I don't know. A sanity check?"
Ronan decided that it was perhaps best not to ask, "... What trouble over Finals week?" Instead, he said, "That's good. Sanity checks... come in handy." He'd certainly gotten his share of them from Nita, Dairine, and Kit, back after... just after.
Parker can occasionally avoid temptation by getting into other trouble. Her only option at the Hyperion right now is to call someone, though.

Yes, that's what they were calling it these days.
