I love how you've taken Erica's pride to lay ontop of her true desire. She thought she was protecting herself, shutting down that part of her life - but really she was only punishing herself. This was written so beautifully, and I've been here. I've told myself what I wanted, without really listening to the truth. "I do love him, I do love him, I do…". I guess the truth is, we don't get to choose who we love.

The relationship with her step-son was beautiful - I love how he could read her beyond her 'happily married' mask. Knowing that her husband was a decent man, that he loved her, makes this all the more heartbreaking. Thanks for such an honest, raw - heartbreaking piece.

Ooh, I like how you phrased that...Erica's only punishing herself. And for what? But, I really loved writing this piece. I enjoy getting inside that little dark corner of the character.

I think that certain encounters do change a person. But, they're often loathe to admit it to themselves. Thank you for the thoughtful comment. I do appreciate it.
