WOW! You’ve really outdone yourself with this one. The psychological depths form this one, really got to me. Told ya you’re getting better and better. I’m never wrong about these things. Erica’s walking such a dangerous line…that I love it, I wanna scream at her, I feel for her, all wrapped up into one.
“But, what if it isn’t enough? Do I have to look forward to the loveless life you’re living with Dad?”
OUCH! I REALLY gotta print this out and give it to two of my friends, who are walking this VERY dangerous line here, of being afraid and treading a hurtful path. I keep telling them they’re gonna kill each other in the process (. . .)And…that’s TMI and not my story to tell, so I’m shutting up, but wow, again, beautiful!

The scene always descends into the same script for me. His mouth gentle and insistent, between my legs. … The tip of my tongue snakes out from my parted lips, searching for the subtle taste of her mouth. But, it never comes; when his lips leave me and he crawls up over my body, I’m left alone beneath him.

Thank you :D Well, we don't have a car, so..we just hung around, talked a LOT and visited sights in the city. There's lots to see in here, as it was an old medieval town, and we still have some of the buldings, streets, fortresses and so on :p

Erica's too scared, or too hurt, or just confused about the alternatives she could have selected. She's chosen a path that not only deprives herself, but deprives her husband, whether or not he even consciously realizes it. She's planted seeds of doubt in her step-son's mind. In potentially trying to do the right thing, she's taken all the wrong steps.

Like I said, love the layering in this one. It's sad when we choose such a life, as we hurt not only ourselves but the ones around us as well. I like how you worded your last part, with the "wrong steps", as really...we don't know what motivated her (OK, maybe YOU do. LOL) so we cannot say for sure that she did the wrong thing; not to mention that in such cases, there's rarely a clear wrong thing :( ... Maybe we need a sequel :p :D Or

Meep! My innards are all over the damn floor now. That's because I can totally see Erica allowing her life to become this empty but safe mess.

I agree with julie_328 that we need to see a bit more of this. Nothing long. Just another chapter to get the MJ response. We are also going to need that next chapter of Useless Desires soon. *nods* Squid smut only takes a person so far.

I have to admit as wrenching as it may be, I really do enjoy exploring these darker sides to Erica. As punky_96 asked...What is within a person to do? She focused more on one's actions and comfort levels of behavior.

But, what is the normative? To live the hetero expectation, she thinks will keep her safe? Or to live the life that fulfills her, but scares the hell out of her?

I'm really loving exploring the fluffy down to the dark underbelly of Erica with these one shots. But, perhaps you and julie are right that we may need a loose end tied up with this one. Just remember this is AU. *wink*

Amazing. That was a heartbreaking situation for Erica to be in. And knowing that she made the decision herself. It makes me wonder what's the whole story behind it all.

Ah, I like that you're wondering what led her to this path. I think we could assume a lot...fear, confusion, self-avoidance. But, I really liked exploring the notion that this was sad for not only herself, but her husband and the step-son, too. I know I often forget that my actions don't just affect me.
