#29: Query

I'm not entirely sure how I'm going to build a Freeze Ray without a source of Wonderflonium but maybe in this case my inability to access the original blueprints is a positive, since I may have to redesign it from the ground up to take into a lack of certain materials--and the presence of new ones.  It might be a little tricky, but I am a genius ( Read more... )

i am a genius, i have a question, i has a penny, wonderflonium, freeze ray, superheroes, no more flowers ever

...what on earth is Wonderflonium?

I get that question a lot.

Basically, it's substance I use in a lot of my devices. It's rare, but most people where I'm from have at least heard of it.

What on earth would you do with a Freeze Ray? And how would define "superhero"? Would you say it's a loose definition that includes anyone with heroic tendencies and powers that aren't exactly natural?

Really, I wouldn't consider Captain Whoever a hero. He's more of a... ah. I don't know an appropriate word for what he is, actually. You've avoided him, though?

From personal experience, I would suggest revealing bad news in a direct and timely fashion. Beating around the bush tends to make people rather unhappy, and it's all the worse if they discover whatever news you mean to share before you get around to sharing.

I'm afraid I don't have suggestions insofar as your other dilemma goes. Care to share the specifics of your situation?

Stop things. Maybe the Carousel and/or the Clock. And particularly Captain Hammer.

That sounds like a pretty good definition except I would add in having a trademark outfit and a codename. Something that excludes, like, firemen. Who I guess have outfits but not secret identities or unnatural powers. And Captain Hammer is a lot like other superheros in my world. But way more popular than Johnny Snow.

As far as the last two things go, Penny's here. I think I might have told you about a while ago but anyway, she's the girl from my world that I like. She doesn't so much know that I'm Dr. Horrible.

I wonder what would happen if you were to stop the clock. If it truly does count down to the destruction of all universes, I'm not entirely certain that stopping it would be a good thing; of course, it all depends on whether or not the clock itself has universe-ending capabilities. If it's nothing more than a timepiece, it doesn't matter what we do to it.

A codename? I suppose an acquaintance of mine could be considered a superhero. We got on quite well. If superheroes tend to be like Captain Hammer, however, they must be singularly unpleasant.

You did mention her, yes. That's a bit problematic, isn't it? The only advice I have is to avoid using mind-altering devices on her. Believe me, I've tried working my way out of a situation by experimenting with memory, and the subject of the experiment was very unhappy once he realized I was being far from straightforward.

Well, worth an experiment, right? That is, if the outcome is either something useful happening or nothing. If all the universes ended, that would be bad. But...I could always unfreeze it. Probably.

Oh. Well, I guess they're not ALL bad. But I don't get on too well with Iron Man either. Not that I'd ever fight him or anything unless there was a good reason, I just don't like him.

Huh, I actually hadn't thought of that. But I like Penny how she is, anyway.

What if I were to stop being Dr. Horrible, pretend he went home or something? If I didn't tell her then would it still be lying?

I've never heard of anything called 'Wonderflonium'. Why do you need it for a Freeze Ray?

horrible_phd May 20 2009, 23:07:20 UTC
Well, you can't expect a device that stops time to run off mundane components.

I guess not. [Though there's a lot of WTF over the idea of stopping time.] What is Wonderflonium?

It's a very rare substance with unique properties. Very useful, as long as you don't bounce it.

Why do you want to know about heroes?

Because my nemesis is a superhero.

Well, that's why I'm asking. What are the heroes you know like?

A love interest, Doctor?

My advice, is just to let the girl know how you feel... be open and honest about your love for her...

And if she is hesitant, never give up. You will have to woo the love of your life to your side. And isn't it worth every effort?

Yeah. I've liked this one girl for a while, and we're even friends, but I'm having a hard time just getting the words out.

[ooc: Billy here has the stalker part covered, believe me.]

Ah, yes. Friendship is certainly a start!

Might I suggest taking the girl dancing? Somewhere that plays waltzes is best... you can hold her in your arms as you gaze into each others eyes. Nothing can move your hearts closer more quickly than a moment shared like that...
