you can download a program that will just let you click a button, like in Word... otherwise you have to use html code.

I use one called Semagic on the PC, and iJournal on the Mac.

Or just code the html yourself. For example, italics are done this way: before the word or phrase you want italicized, type: shift-comma i shift-period. To stop italicizing, type that again, only with a / before the i.

The same goes for bold (b) and underline (u).
