she was kind of sweet in a weird sort of way and i felt really sorry for her; maybe it had something to do with the expression of her eyes:))

Exactly! She was crazy, but she made you feel sorry for her.

I thought X was Lex. It didn't occur to me that he was protecting Clark, but of course you're right! Thank you for pointing that out, I like that theory.

I liked Lois, too. She's been growing on me, and this episode she just kind of won me over. I was not a fan of how Lois was written last season, sleeping with her boss and all, but I'm pretty happy with her character in S8. And a lot of the stuff between Clark and Lois makes me laugh.

I also liked Maxima, which surprised me. I thought she was kind of adorable, and I appreciated how direct she was. And she really gave Clark some food for thought.

I hate the Chimmy with a passion. Ugh.

It's nice to see someone else on my flist who enjoyed at least some parts of this episode. A lot of people seem to have hated it.

I disliked that, too, and I've thought she's been kind of canned sounding in the earlier S8 episodes--like the writers were just giving her certain lines because OMG! IT'S ICONIC!!! This week, though, she was more like the Lois of S4, which was a characterization I liked.

I liked Lois in S4, too, especially in those first four episodes. I feel she's never been closer to that characterization than she was in Instinct.
