the ones i'm seriously considering are: 3 women, fear & loathing in las vegas, brd trilogy, george washington (if i can find it), seventh seal, salo, a woman is a woman, short cuts. i'll only get 3 or 4, i have quite the decision to make. i'll probably be standing in the dvd section of b&n for hours.

those are tough decisions there. i say you should definitely get the fassbinder as it's a box set and you'll never find it that cheap again.

i considered 3 women as well . . . i ended up ordering the scarlet empress, repulsion, black narcissus, and peeping tom. and i may buy a few more . . . not sure though. at least now i have something to do after work, pathetic as that sounds.

but this sale is sort of making me reevaluate myself as a person. is salo more important to own than a woman is a woman? what about robert altman?? terry gilliam??

i can say with no reservations that salo was not on my list!

but i know what you mean. i am feeling guilty because everything i ordered is relatively well known/mainstream/film 101. BUT I LOVE 'EM

That's a lot of criterion.

you can find the criterion versions? a lot of these movies have cheaper versions but the criterion ones come with tons of extras and interesting shit. i have the eyes without a face one and it has a whole other movie on it, a documentary that the same director made about meatpacking.

haha, over here some people think it is snobby to call "movies" "films". like you'd call g.i. joe a movie and you'd call the 400 blows a film. i was just being sarcastic about that.

haha we should make you a whole list of "american slang" and you should use it really awkwardly and it will be awesome.

sadly they don't actually have picnic at hanging rock! that's one of the first ones i looked for. :(

yeah if you're a nerd like me and like commentary tracks and interviews and fancy packaging, criterion is the way to go.

I am always disappointed when I look at their catalog and see they haven't re-released Robocop.
